Kelechi Iheanacho scores to give Leicester City victory in Community Shield

The Nigeria Super Eagles star Kelechi Iheanacho was the hero of the day as he converted a late penalty to give Leicester City a 1-0 win over his former club Manchester City. The Community Shield is the first title for the club since 1971 and the Nigerian was substituted and scored for the Foxes at Wembley Stadium.

The clash between the Premier League champions and last season's FA Cup winners was tense at times and looked set to go to penalties. But with a minute remaining, Iheanacho scored from the penalty spot into the top corner after being fouled by Nathan Ake.

Jack Grealish, Manchester City's record £100 million signings, made his debut in the game. Ilkay Gundogan steered a Kasper Schmeichel free-kick over the bar, and the German midfielder also failed with a shot from 10 yards.

Striker Jamie Vardy was at his best for Leicester but could not get past City goalkeeper Zack Steffen, who made a great reaction save to prevent the Englishman from scoring. Another Super Eagles player, Wilfred Ndidi also showed his best side and contributed to Leicester City's victory.
