Controversial Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmed Gumi has revealed why he will vote for Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi in 2023.
Gumi assured Obi of his vote if he can restructure Nigeria if elected president in 2023.
He made the remarks yesterday in Kaduna, where he hosted former Anambra state governor and his vice presidential running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed.
Obi and his vice presidential running mate were in Kaduna to participate in an interactive session for presidential candidates organized by a joint committee of Arewa groups ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Gumi, however, praised Obi for visiting and briefing him on his plan for Nigeria.
According to Gumi, "When you come here (to Kaduna), people will love to hear your views on restructuring Nigeria; Nigeria has restructured since its independence till date. Nigeria has been restructured since independence. It has never been static, but I want to know what you think about restructuring so that I can write on my Facebook page, "This is the presidential candidate who can do it for me; I will give him my vote."
Gumi also asked the LP presidential candidate how he planned to address the problems of unrest and poverty in the country.
"How do you plan to address the problem of polity and unrest across Nigeria? Every region is in turmoil because people are dissatisfied. How are you going to bring these people (agitators) under one table?
"You talked more about the economy; the economy is sometimes more important than the numbers," he added.
